About us

The Gut Stuff exists because gut health should be for everyone, not just the wellness-obsessed, not just those who can afford it, but everyone. We've spent years dismantling the confusion, killing the stigma, and making gut health genuinely accessible: from a TV show watched by over 6 million people to products now everywhere from Tesco to Tik Tok.

Having recently joined the Hero portfolio, we're at an inflection point, scaling fast, backed by serious support, and building the team that'll take us to the next level.

About Hero Group

Hero is a global food company, founded in 1886 in Switzerland, specialising in branded nutritional products across the Growing Up and Adult categories. With a portfolio of trusted brands like Corny, Semper, Goodies, Beech-Nut, Organix, and Deliciously Ella, Hero delivers high-quality, great-tasting food rooted in natural goodness. With 4,000 team members worldwide, the company is driven by strong values, high performance, and a commitment to doing the right thing - always, without compromise.

About the role

Until now our finance function has been managed externally, but we’re ready to bring this in-house. We're looking for a hands-on Finance Manager who will take full responsibility for all finance activities - from bookkeeping and closing to commercial controlling and group reporting. As a small team with big ambitions, there’s a real opportunity here to shape how finance works at The Gut Stuff and grow your career quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & financial operations

  • Oversee and manage end-to-end bookkeeping (GL, AP, AR)
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly and annual closings
  • Manage cashflow, payments and bank reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards and tax regulations
  • Produce monthly management accounts and support reporting cycle to Hero group
  • Prepare and file VAT returns (MTD compliant), corporation tax submissions, and all other HMRC filings
  • Coordinate with external partners (auditors, tax advisors, authorities)

Commercial controlling

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Own the P&L end-to-end — tracking revenue, COGS, and gross margin by channel on a weekly basis
  • Analyse gross margin performance and flag variances, pricing risks, and cost movements to the leadership team
  • Provide actionable financial insights to support decision making
  • Reconcile multi-channel revenue: Amazon, Shopify, TikTok Shop, Tesco, Ocado, and wholesale accounts

Group Reporting

  • Prepare and submit monthly reporting to Hero Group Finance
  • Ensure alignment with group accounting standards and deadlines
  • Act as contact between local management and group finance

About you:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) will be preferred
  • Few years of experience in finance roles, ideally in FMCG or a product-based business; you understand channel economics, COGS, and margin
  • Hands-on Xero experience
  • Strong double-entry and ledger management fundamentals
  • Would be a real plus if you are comfortable owning HMRC filings end-to-end VAT, corporation tax, the lot
  • Analytically sharp — you don’t just report numbers, you interrogate them
  • Autonomous and proactive — you’re comfortable setting your own priorities and getting on with it
  • Experience with inventory management systems a bonus (Unleashed, Cin7, or similar)
  • Exposure to group reporting or a parent company structure is a plus, but not essential
  • A team player who’s happy to flex for the good of the business

What We Offer

You will have the opportunity to be part of a mission driven business at a hugely exciting point in our growth trajectory, where your voice is heard and where you’re able to actively impact our business. Some great perks in working for us include:

  • Pension scheme contribution
  • 25 days holiday
  • Flexible working — as a team we aim to be in the office in central London twice a week, with flexible hours
  • Real ownership and the chance to build the finance function from the ground up
  • The opportunity to grow your role as we scale within the Hero portfolio
  • Friday afternoons from 2pm off

Closing date: 1 August 2026
